Friday, already? #SOL21 #Day11

Question, Really, Question Mark, Doubt

Tomorrow is Friday already, really?

Can we please add more time to the day?
No?

How about more time to the week?
Not possible?

Well what about carving out more time for thinking at least?
When you ask?
That’s what I’m asking you – when?

How do we get it all done?
How do we meet all the demands?
How do we choose what is priority?

What? You have to do it all?
How is that even possible?

What if we actually focused on the essential aspects?
What if we actually slowed down to move forward?
What if we actually leaned into discomfort, sat with it, and then made changes?
What if we actually listened to others more?

How do we not just move through the motions but move with intention, purpose and love in all that we do – including the decisions we make?

Yes – tomorrow is Friday and look what has been accomplished this week already!

  1. Wow… This is so beautiful and resonated with me so deeply. I felt a certain angst as I read each line, reflecting on how often I feel the apprehension and anxiety of not being able to get done what I had hoped. Yet, you give room for the reader to celebrate the accomplishments, consider improvements and you admonish focus, fairness (to yourself) and filtering out the impractical.

So glad I stopped by your blog to read these powerful words. I plan to take them to heart. It serves as a reminder that we should embrace what we do well and always strive to do better. Thank you for sharing your insight!

    Loved it.

  2. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Why isn’t there more time just to think? Is this true for all professions or do educators feel it the most? I really think about It a lot for classroom teachers – especially this year! How can we create more time to think, to read, to write? I suppose the first secret is mentioned in your piece: carve the time out. Where is the place in the day we might be able to carve out some time to just be? You ask some interesting questions (and maybe step near some solutions) in this stanza:

What if we actually focused on the essential aspects?
What if we actually slowed down to move forward?
What if we actually leaned into discomfort, sat with it, and then made changes?
What if we actually listened to others more?

Thankfully the weekend is coming. Maybe some time can be found there!

  3. This line: Tomorrow is Friday already, really? is way better than when I sometimes think it must be Friday already and it is only Tuesday or Wednesday. Time is so strange and I really feel like it is stranger than ever in this corona time- it is both slow and fast at the same time and I often find when I consult a calendar that things are either in slow motion or fast forward.
Good reminders in your second to last paragraph: How do we not just move through the motions but move with intention, purpose, and love in all that we do – including the decisions we make?
